Commissions Policy
All of these things for the protection of the client and the curator
When one desires a piece, one may provide images, color palettes, subjects, references, or anything else they would enjoy within the piece, as well as a general vision communicated through email, text, or conversation.
The commissioner has control over the thematic direction of the artwork, while I, as the artist, retain control over its artistic execution. The commissioner chooses me because of the way I create my art and therefore agrees to allow me the artistic freedom necessary to create the piece in my own style.
I am not attempting to create a photorealistic copy of the selected individual and/or subject. I am creating an abstract-realistic interpretation of what I see through the individual's life, experiences, and story. I am not a printer; I will create a collage of experiences that only I and God can curate together. The resulting work will be my artistic interpretation, and I will retain final artistic discretion over the execution of the piece.
My artistic process can be messy and may change significantly throughout the creation of the work. When observing progress photos, the commissioner should not be discouraged if the piece temporarily appears different from what they envisioned or is not currently to their liking. Unless major thematic elements are incorrect, the commissioner understands that the artwork may look very different at various stages than it will in its finished form.
I will listen to and consider reasonable feedback; however, I will not spend hours making hundreds of minuscule alterations. As an artist, I retain a reasonable degree of artistic liberty in order to create the strongest finished piece possible.
Payment
When commissioning a piece, the commissioner will pay 50% of the total commission price before work begins. This initial payment is non-refundable and secures the commission, materials, time, and artistic commitment required to begin the work.
The remaining 50% is due upon completion of the piece.
If the commissioner cannot or will not continue with the commission after work has begun, the artwork may be held by the artist or, depending on the circumstances, offered for sale to another party. The initial 50% payment will not be returned.
If the commissioner refuses to pay the remaining balance after completion, the artwork will not be released to the commissioner, and the initial 50% payment will not be refunded.
By signing below, you verify that you, the commissioner, have read, understood, and agree to follow all of the terms and expectations stated above.
